Itinerary
17 Day Africa Trip - Designed & Guided
by Leslie Edwin
NOTE FROM OUR GUIDE: Itinerary
changes may occur but will not impact the quality of the tour.
Africa is an amazing tourist area but a challenging one organizationally
where the ability to be flexible is key. Things can go a bit
awry now and then, but I believe that with fun, humor and
your sense of being on holiday adventure we’ll have a brilliant
time. Best regards, Leslie
| Day
1 - Arrive
Cape Town |
| |
- You will arrive today in Cape Town.
One of the most beautiful cities in the world!
- During our
stay in Cape Town, we will stay at the beautiful Vineyard
Hotel with a view of Table Mountain right outside your
room. It is truly a charming, old world hotel – long
on atmosphere with 6 acres of private gardens. If it
is a clear day, we will take the cable car to the top
of Table Mountain, where you will marvel at the panoramic
view of Cape Town and the surrounding landscape.
|
| Day
2 |
| |
- Today we will go to the Cape of Good Hope. On the way,
you will see some of the most spectacular sea, mountain
and beachscapes in the world with a visit to the home
of hundreds of penguins!
|
| Day
3 |
| |
- A morning’s visit to the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical
Gardens, followed by a Cape Town City Tour; a visit to
Robbin Island (Nelson Mandela’s home for 26 years)
and plenty of time to shop.
|
| Day
4 |
| |
- Today we pack up and fly to Skakuza
(SKZ) via Johannesburg. There, the friendly staff of Idube
Lodge will
meet us for our 5 night stay. Idube offers a world
of adventure and discovery. Set deep in the wild heartland
of the Sabi Sands reserve, part of the world-renowned
Kruger Park. An exclusive family owned lodge dedicated
to giving you a genuine bush experience. Cross the suspended
walkway to the hide next to the dam. Sit quietly and
watch elephant come down to bath, or lions quench their
thirst. Designed for comfort, the chalets are equipped
with heating , air conditioning, overhead fans.
- Leave
the main door open at night (close only the mosquito
screens) and hear the sounds of Africa at night when
the bush is awake – the roar of lions, the laughing
hyenas.
- Wake up in the morning to a chorus of a hundred
birds.
- Your meals will be in a beautiful African boma and
there is a boulder swimming pool for your pleasure
in the afternoon. There are 2 game drives per day, plus
1 bush walk per day with an armed ranger.

5 - 8 |
| |
|
| Day
9 - 11 Mala Mala |
| |
- Today we will say good-bye to Idube and transfer to
the world famous
Mala Mala Game Reserve. This is the best place in the world for leopard and rhino
(lion and elephant too!) Mala Mala is a 90,000 acre private concession in the
heart of the five million acre Kruger National Park. This is the best place in
Africa for seeing lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo. (All at a range of 10ft.
from our land rovers)
- Here, off road driving takes on a whole new meaning as
we plow our way through the bush on the tails of lions
staiking a kill. (The best 4X4 bush experience)
- At night,
we search for nocturnal animals by spotlight, as almost
all animals are active mostly at night. An exciting and
unique experience.
The accommodation is luxurious and the and the food superb.
Three days of unbeatable wilderness.

| |
|
| |
|
| Day
13 |
| |
- The morning we will experience a church service in Soweto.
Leslie has been taking tours here for years and it is a
wonderful opportunity to meet the people in the biggest “black” city
in Africa and experience their faith community. This
will be a wonderful experience in human relations, religion
and anthropology. Afterwards, we will tour Pretoria and
learn about the colorful history of Johannesburg and it’s
diamond industry.
|
| Day 14 |
| |
- We fly to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe today. We will visit
the Falls (one of the seven wonders of the world!) and
then, transfer to Chobe Safari Lodge in Botswana where
they have the greatest game cruises in Africa! On Botswana’s
far northern border lies Swando, Linyanti and Chobe River
system forming a series of lakes, islands and floodplains.
This area forms the Chobe National Park, famous for it’s
large buffalo and elephant herds. In addition to a variety
of predators, there is an abundance of wild game and bird
life, which decorate these beautiful waterways.
|
| Day 15 |
| |
- Today you will experience both a morning game drive and
an afternoon game cruise on the Chobe River.
|
| Day 16 |
| |
- Zambia is where we will be going today for our rural Village
Tour. Another stamp for your passports and a look at African
village life.
|
| Day 17 - Tour
Ends |
| |
- We awake with another game drive (what a way to say good-bye
to Africa)
We pack bags for our flight from Victoria Falls via Johannesburg
home.
